The Rise Of Teen-Oriented Shows

I remember back in summer vacation of 2009 when I was an avid viewer of teen-oriented shows being shown in ABS-CBN (G-Mik) and GMA (TGIS).
I can say that the first batch of TGIS is the most successful compared to the other teen-oriented shows that followed. I was about to post some pictures of the casts of these shows but I can’t help but laugh (and I don’t want to be blamed for stealing pictures online. Haha). Actually, TGIS started in 1997 (according to Wikipedia). This show actually brought Angelu De Leon to stardom, though she really started in Ang TV. Other casts of TGIS Batch 1 are Bobby Andrews, Raven Villanueva, Michael Flores, Red Sternberg, Onemig Bondoc, etc. Few months later, ABSCBN created their own teen-oriented show through Gimik with G Toengi, Judy Ann Santos, Jolina Magdangal, Mylene Dizon, Diether Ocampo, Rico Yan, Marvin Agustin, Bojo Molina, Diego Castro, etc.
Because the cast members of these shows also grew older, they have introduced new batches over the years. TGIS Batch 2 had Dingdong Dantes, Kim Delos Santos, Antoinette Taus, Dino Guevarra, etc. While Gimik Batch 2 had Kaye Abad, Baron Geisler, etc.
The third batch of these shows were actually younger stars. I really can remember that TGIS had a third batch but the show only lasted for few weeks. This was later replaced by Click. Click was solely produced by GMA, compared to TGIS which was a co-production of GMA and Viva. Gimik was later on renamed as G-Mik. I think this batch is very successful – Camille Pratts, Angelica Panganiban, etc. As they grew older, the popularity of the show weakened, which made Click a top-rater. As years passed by, teen-oriented shows were removed in the Saturday afternoon timeslot.

me too, I’m youth oriented show fanatic before… i think the third batch of TGIS introduced Angel locsin, China Ortaleza, and Richard Gutierrez ( but I’m not so sure ha)
the first batch of click were Biboy Ramirez, Roxanne Barcelo, Maybelyn dela Cruz, Trina Zuniga (if you remember her – she transferred in tabing ilog), cogie domingo and James blanco.
then followed by iya villania, drew arellano, jake cuenca, valerie cocnepcion, karen delos reyes (mc do ni makakalimuting lolo)… then yung last batch na ay sina jennylyn, mark herras, rainier, yamine, jc and valerie… that time nawala sa ere ito because nabuntis na si Valerie… not naman siguro talagang because of her… baka kailangan na rin i-accomodate na kaagad ang mga winners ng starstuck na later on nilagay sa “JOyride” kalaban ng sarah the teen princess at mangarap ka ni Piolo Pascual.

pahabol… i like G-mik because i like camille before… pero aminado ako na yung story minsan sablay… as if she’s the most beautiful girl… crush ko ata si mico samson that time. heheh
sa mga teen oriented shows,CLICK lang napanuod ko. nandun kasi si ANGEL locsin. mahal ko na sya mula noon. heheh lol

Of all, gusto ko ‘yung CLICK. Hehe. Ang ganda pati nung theme song nila na iba iba ang versions every season.
The first season, when Melai was killed, sobrang apektado ako non.
Haha.
Second season nahighlight yung Marshy and Mallow
Tas ayun lumagpak na ang Click nung dumating ang Starstruckers.
