Home Sonic: Strike 2!

My Story

I suddenly remembered a blog entry I posted last July 2008 entitled, “Back To Back Inis Sa Imus” after I answered a foolish phone call at home last Saturday…

Caller: “Hello, pwede kay (my mother’s name)?”
Rowjie: “Ay, wala po siya eh (which is true). Sino po sila?”
Caller: “Tiga (I cannot remember what she said)… Wala ba akong pwedeng makausap dyan?”
Rowjie: “Ako po.”
Caller: “Sino ka ba? Ka-ano-ano ka ba niya?” (My temper started to rise…)
Rowjie: “Opo…”
Caller: “Nanalo kasi itong number niyo through an electronic raffle. So pwede po kayo manalo ng blender or… blah blah blah… May ballpen ka ba dyan? Ibibigay ko yung confirmation number…”
Rowjie: “Ah sige po, saglit lang po…”

I started to think that the caller might be from Home Sonic. I continued searching for a pen and paper.

I started to lose my patience… I started to shout since the caller said if I can’t make my voice louder.

Caller: “Ito po ang confirmation number…”

I wrote down the number she gave me.

And that’s how I ended our stupid conversation.

Again, this experience is a FACT. I wouldn’t waste my time inventing this story. But since this is true, I want to share it to others who might encounter the same situation as mine. This is the second time I had a stupid encounter with Home Sonic in Robinson’s Imus. The caller lacks courtesy… actually, all of them lacks courtesy. They are doing stupid ways to get customers.

So guys, beware of Home Sonic!

Warning: guys i had an unwanted phone call just few minutes ago… certain Sofia Diaz from PGU company said that they had an eloctronic raffle draw and my landline number was selected… she said that anytime i can claim my home appliance as my prize at Home Sonic near Rob Dep’t Store at Metropolis now Starmall.
i kept on asking her…if her call might be a scam because i was not expecting anything nor join any raffle draw. After we talked i immediately search the net and found out that it is really a “scam”… and they victimized people already… since then and up to now they are still at large.. internet is such a big help but still we need to be careful… Thank God I searched first before going there… please be careful you might encounter the same situation as mine.

Beware!! May nabiktima nanaman!!

me and my mom got scammed last sunday (jan 24) by arysta marketing at elizabeth mall here in cebu city.. they claimed we won some items and have to promote an item which we have to pay for P49, 000.00.. all the free items cost P175, 000.00 total so we thought it was really a bargain.. when we got home, I checked the internet for the prices of the items we won and found out they were actually cheaper than what we thought and they cost P49, 000.00 more or less so it was like we were paying for the items we allegedly won.. and I also found out that there were also other victims that experienced the same scam we had.. I hope they will stop this lie they term as marketing strategy because not only did they violated the consumer’s act but also broke our trust and confidence to their company as well.. my mom used her sister’s credit card to pay for the promoted item so we are still in the process of canceling the transaction..

While at the mall may nag invite sa akin for demo sabe ko wala akong pera at unemployed ako sabe nila for promotion lang walang bibilhin, after the demo I was supposed to leave bigla may free gift daw and pinalibutan na ako ng staff everyone was shouting and I end up having charges in my credit cards for 49,900. I consulted a lawyer(friend) sabe ireturn ko daw ung items. I will do it today. Thank’s for these blog kahit papano lumakas ang loob ko…will keep you posted…..INGAT PO SA LAHAT! GOD BLESS!

the same story happened to us. i was not able to talk to the caller who said we won a computer package and that we should claim it at the greentop ali mall, it was my sister who actually talk to the women named Anne Villar. i was calling them just a moment earlier before i had read all your blogs, but no one answers the phone (that makes me a lot more curious, if that’s an office someone should have answered one of my three calls). they told us to claim the prize within three days. i really doubt that we won a computer package because we do not join any raffles. thanks for posting your blogs.. and so i know that was just a scam.. :)

SAME STORY HERE, GREEN TOP AT ALI MALL, THE ANN VILLAR WHO CALLED ME (MARCH 14, 2010). I ACTUALLY WENT TO THE PLACE AND CLAIMED THE SAID FREE EYE MASSAGER. I DON’T KNOW IF YOU CAN CALL IT A SCAM OR JUST A MARKETING STRATEGY BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IT IS YOU WHO WILL DECIDE TO PURCHASE OR NOT THE ITEM. THINK AND EVALUATE EVERYTHING ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO PAYMENT. AS FOR ME THEY TOLD ME TO BUY 1 ITEM WORTH 57,000 AND EVERYTHING THEY OFFER IS FREE I ANSWERED THEM STRAIGHTLY I’M NOT CAPABLE TO PAY SUCH AMOUNT. AND IN THE END I GOT MY EYE MASSAGER FOR FREE!

same here. just got a call from Hannah Fernandez of Phil Electronics Association (daw)about 10mins ago. tinatanong kung may 2mawag na daw s min earlier about the code for our gift item. I asked kung anong gift item since wala naman kaming sinalihan n promo or something.taga-PEA nga daw sila at ibibigay lang daw yung code para ma-claim yung gift item. napili daw number namin thru electronic raffle. kesyo d lang daw isang phone company yung sakop nila. bukod s PLDT, may Globelines, Bayantel etc. from the very start I never believed her dahil d nya ko pinapatapos magsalita. alam nyang taga-rizal ako but then again, nagtanong sya kung san daw ako banda s rizal.

i just purchased items at homesonic starmall. just hours ago. napadaan lang ako then they said i got free door alarm gift. promotion lang. same style nun mga una kong nabasang blogs. they were very accomodating and would ask queries about you, over and over again, habang minamassage ka sa kanilang kiyosha chair massager. afterwards, the store supervisor introduced their products. then after nun, they said i might avail pa raw of better items aside from the door alarm dahil may barcode daw ang aking invitation card and i am entitled to it. they asked me to choose from among numerous sealed gift certificates. when i got one and opened it, they said.. i won a kiyosha chair massager and beauty mate massager. while the supervisor is dealing with me, patuloy ang mga staff massaging my legs and arms using the beauty mate massager. then one staff was asked to verify from the main office in & ex if nakapasok ako. kasi 10 pax lang daw bibigyan nila for the day as part of their anniversary promotion. everytime lalabas yun staff, all smile at may good news daw na dala to the point makikilukso ang nerve cells mo sa sobrang excitement nila. i was approved to receive a massager chair and beauty mate massager for FREE, as what was confirmed and approved by the in & ex main office staff. the supervisor ordered the staff to verify this claim over again, dahil baka raw sya magbayad ng item. then there comes the staff, pabalik balik na nadadala ka sa momentum ng mga pangyayari.. saying na approved na approved daw that i won the same offer. 10 lang daw bibigyan nila, and fortunately, ako ay nakahabol bilang pan-siyam. so pasok na pdeng maka-avail. after that, may additional promo pa raw sila. may tatawagan lang daw sa phone to confirm if pasok pa ko sa promo. then they would ask if meron ako smart, globe, etc na sim, if meron ako pldt landline or ala, if anu banks ko and if visa and mastercard credit cards ko. they were saying that these companies are their partners for this promo. i got more items as freebies, inclusive of a heathy ozonizer and body fat scale.

while more freebies are being offered, the supervisor was discussing about the remarks of the promotion at the back of the gift certificate. on the last statement says, makukuha raw the items if magpurchase ng any of their items at promo price. the costs of the items being offered by home sonic would range from P 84500 . based on the declared original costs of the items. one tends to get convinced. by this time, napalibutan nako ng mga staff congratulating me ng paulit ulit for having the chair massager worth P 84500 for free. they even presented me other gift certs, pixes of previous winners, even purchase receipts that others only get discoumt of say P 500, but were willing to purchase the units, say for the tv/ cabinet hometheater at a rate of P 58900 less P 500 gift cert. then they asked which among the items ang kukunin ko to avail of the first 4 freebies. sa paulit ulit na congratulations na ikaw lang daw tanging nagkaroon ng ganun privilige among their starmall clients, ma-eenganyo ka rin naman so there it goes! :( they requested for my credit cards. they called the bank ..and while conversation with the bank was ongoing, isa isa na nila hinahanda or nilalatag ang mga freebies ko, inclusive of the tv/ cabinet home theater. they gave warranty cards for each covering 2 yrs warranty and a lifetime free service. and asked me to sign on some documents, inclusive of a purchase agreement and a sales contract. stamped in the sales contract at the bottom of the page is a phrase “7 days money back guarantee (as long as it is not used) from the date of purchase”. after i signed everything, dinagdagan pa ng multi.purpose cooker, coz they give freebies daw based on the points incurred from the sale. then, transaction finished.

the group of staff teased me for a treat. and generous that i am, i even handed the supervisor P 1500 for them to buy some merienda for the next day, which he politely declined saying bawal sa kanila tumanggap ng ganun. i just promised going back the next day and buy them something to eat . they said that it was just a tease and i need not bother returning just for the treat.

the supervisor offered his two installers to install the units, specifically the tv/ cabinet hometheater, in my place. so we left and we were even accompanied by three other lady staff who presented my receipt of purchase from the starmall’s main guard. then we got home and installation done.

after they left, my sister reacted over the cost of what i bought. she claimed that though i got freebies, P 20k lang daw nabibili ang massager sa SM; of which i really had no idea and which gave me second thoughts. then i started browsing the net. some products of the same brand and which are even brand new are being sold only at P 21k, some at P 60k, and some even started at a cost of P 163k <slashed to P 8ok). until i got to cross with these SCAM reports of home sonic, specifically for starmall mandaluyong branch.

pls help!! should this really be a scam, do i go directly to their store and return the items and have my money back?? i bet this would call for a series of negotiations. if they disagree to cancel the transaction which i paid thru hsbc credit card under a 6-month installment scheme.. should i go direct to DTI and complain the same? would hsbc be of any help by directly canceling this transaction made in my card?

YOUR URGENT REPLY WOULD BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED. thanks!!

i happened to see this site while searching for “greentop” marketing.. my mom was actually the victim just last saturday, july 24, 2010. They have the same strategy, sabay-sabay daw lalapit ang mga staff to congratulate you for winning in their promo (kahit wala ka naman sinalihan).., blah, blah, tapos in the end pipilitin ka bumili ng items worth 51,900 pesos!. syempre walang dalang ganon kalaking pera ang nanay ko.. napilit syang magbigay ng 1k as part of the 5k downpayment. ibibigay daw ang remaining 4k pag nadeliver na ang items sa bahay tapos huhulugan ang remaiing balance….naku scam talaga kc when we went back para mag refund ayaw na nila pumayag at dapat daw eh i”offset” ng ibang item ung 1k pero di kami pumayag.. mahabang discussion pa ang nangyari pero di pa rin namin nakukuha ang 1k dahil to be approved pa daw ng main office nila.. this happened at Olivarez Plaza in Los Banos, Laguna. please lang.. sa mga makakabasa… don’t be fooled by these people from greentop marketing… as for my mom.. it’s really a lesson learned…

Good I accessed the net before I proceeded to Festival Mall. I got similar call from Jocelyn of PGU yesterday. Aug. 14. Their strategy will make you believe that they are for real by giving a Code number of your prize. Looks like they are everywhere and has been operating for so long.. I was instructed also to claim my prize at Green Top, this time at the 2nd flr of Festival Mall. I sensed something was wrong, when the girl told me I must claim it from her within 2 days from her call.
Thanks for you posts, I did not fall into this kind of modus operandi. I just hope somebody will report their illegal activities and that they will be caught.

Same thing happened to me just a while ago. A certain lady called to inform me that I won something out of nothing! She gave me a reference number and the location from where I could possibly claim the prize. I asked her, what kind of prize is this? and she answered: “well sir pwedeng gadget, home theatre, appliances, etc.” This increased my doubt about the call, because this is just too good to be true right? So I searched the net and I was immediately directed to this site…. Almost none in this world is free now, so guys be careful and to those who had been a victim of such scams, take this experience as a learning process in your life.
